Palmetto Boxing brings MMA to South
Carolina
Promoter Andrew Stokes (Palmetto Boxing/Strife MMA) did what no other
promoter in history has done. He hosted the first ever sanctioned MMA
show in South Carolina. The show titled “Worlds Collide” combined
professional boxing and MMA in a spectacular event that sold out days
before the doors opened. A crowd of 1500 enthusiastic fans were
witnessed in the history of the state.
A perfect balance of MMA and boxing kept fans on the edge of their seats
until the end of the show when MMA phenom Kelly Anundson (Newberry, SC)
ended his match at 2:05 of the second round against Tyrone Jackson of
Bristol, TN by a rear naked choke submission that sent the fans into a
frenzy. “Worlds Collide” was held at the award winning Radisson Hotel
and Conference Center in Columbia, SC.
